Karine Jean-Pierre, White House press secretary, said Thursday that President Joe Biden tested positive for Covid-19.

Covid-19 positive test on Tuesday, followed by negative test on Wednesday. Biden will remain isolated at  the White House.

Biden tested positive for Covid-19 Thursday morning and has begun taking Paxlovid, which requires a prescription from a doctor for mild to moderate cases.

The White House residence staff is preparing for Biden's diagnosis after the vice president and first lady tested negative on Thursday.

Due to Biden's positive Covid-19 diagnosis, aides at the White House residence will be reduced to a "bare minimum"

On Thursday, Biden was scheduled to deliver a speech on crime prevention in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. A fundraiser for the DNC has not  yet been scheduled.

The White House has been preparing for months for what many saw as an inevitable Biden illness.

The President's infection occurs just as Covid cases are once again on the rise in the US because of the Covid pandemic.

In an effort to secure more funding from Congress, the Biden administration is extending the Covid-19 public health emergency.
