Four people were killed at Saint Francis Hospital in Tulsa, Okla., on Wednesday by a shooter, police confirmed.

Jonathan Brooks of the Tulsa police department said at a news conference Wednesday that four innocents and one shooter were dead.

It has not been determined who the shooter is. Police say he died from a gunshot wound that he inflicted himself.

Brooks said the shooter had a rifle and a handgun with him. In a Facebook post just before 6 p.m., Tulsa police said.

The police parked dozens of cars outside the hospital complex and shut down traffic during the investigation.

The shooting marks the 23rd mass shooting this year in the United States, according to Gun Violence Archive data.

The archive defines a mass shooting as four or more people being shot or killed, not including the shooter.

In Uvalde, Texas, 19 students and two teachers were killed by a gunman less than two weeks ago.

Oklahoma authorities appeared to be aware of the Texas shooting where focus is now on police response time.
